Hi there! Kumusta? I'm Victoria—the tutor you've been looking for. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Secondary Education, major in Filipino.
Back in college, I served as a language buddy to foreign students at our university, teaching them Filipino in a fun and simple way. Now, I’m a full-time Senior High School teacher, guiding Grade 11 and 12 students in both Filipino and English subjects.
I love reading books, creating art, and making films. I’m a creative person, passionate about all forms of art—whether it's literature, visual arts, or performing arts.

For new students, I begin by assessing their knowledge of the Filipino language to determine whether they are beginners, intermediate, advanced, or proficient. This helps me tailor the lesson to match their level and ensure we’re starting from the right place.
Beyond just learning the rules and structure of the language, I believe full immersion in Filipino culture is essential. Language is deeply tied to culture, so my lessons will help you connect with both. We’ll have conversation-based classes that feel like talking to a friend, practicing Tagalog on topics that are easy to start a conversation with. Senior High School TeacherI am working as a full-time Senior High School teacher, handling both Filipino and English subjects. Trained to handle large classes of up to 50 students, I’ve mastered the art of creating meaningful learning experiences even in the busiest of rooms.
Beyond the classroom, I am also a School Paper Adviser, where I mentor aspiring student journalists — nurturing their voices, sharpening their writing, and inspiring them to make their mark in the world of media.
2023 - 2024
Student Teacher InternI was deployed as a student teacher in a public school for four months, from October 2023 to January 2024. During this time, I taught the Filipino subject to Grade 8 level to five sections with around 50 students in each section.

Throughout my four-year journey, I immersed myself in the vibrant world of the Filipino language, literature, culture, and communication. I unraveled the rich tapestry of our national language—its growth, structure, and deep-rooted connection to the soul of Philippine identity. Through this journey, I honed my skills in writing, translation, linguistics, and teaching.

I have had the pleasure of working with Teacher Victoria for over 9 months. Around the start of my Tagalog journey, I happened to stumble upon her amazing intro video.
Right away I knew from the way she expressed herself through her energy, creativity, and passion for teaching Tagalog that it was an absolute must for me to see if she was a fit. After completing our first lesson, there was no question at all on who I wanted to invest my time and energy with.
Over the course of my time with Victoria, she has taught me so much about Tagalog and Filipino culture. Whether it be analyzing trendy songs, watching YT videos, listening to her podcasts, or just having fun light-hearted chats I have gained so much knowledge and insight that I cannot thank her enough for all she has given me.
Teacher Victoria I believe is one of the best teachers on italki and I highly recommend her if you would like to learn from someone who is so kind, supportive, dedicated, and an absolute joy to work with.

Vicky is honestly my favorite language teacher I’ve ever had 🧡 I can definitely feel how much effort she puts into our classes and she is very present while I share stories. I also appreciate how many examples she gives me for new grammar/vocab so that I fully understand. In the short amount of time I’ve been taking classes with Vicky, I’ve already noticed so much progress in my Tagalog! ✨

Another great lesson with Vicky! We had some casual conversation in Tagalog about our New Year's celebrations and also about what you can do to avoid catching germs (because my daughter was sick over the holidays and now my husband is sick, ha). We then went over vocabulary from a popular Filipino song that I had listened to for homework. Maraming salamat!

Victoria is a great teacher and really easy to work with. She specializes her lessons to the student and where they are at. She is also very patient and thoroughly explains things if you do not understand something. I really enjoy her teaching style and the fact she prepares custom materials each class. Highly recommend her.

I had a great first lesson because she was able to give me confidence while assessing my needs. I am Filipino American that understands and comprehends Tagalog but she was able to assess that I am very much a beginner as far as speaking vocabulary. I can't wait to continue building confidence during our next lesson.
