I have been teaching beginner and intermediate students for over a decade, helping many progress from A1 to B2. I created course and materials that suit the real need. I hold a master degree in teaching. I make learning fun, practical, and achievable through structured lessons, interactive practice, and goal-oriented methods for real-life communication. Now I live in France alps and publish learning materials for learners with the Cantonese alliance, I understand language-learning struggles and provide practical strategies. I uses IB, ACTFL, CEFR, and HSK frameworks to guide clear learning paths and measurable progress.

I specialize in teaching Cantonese with a structured curriculum and personalized guidance, helping students progress from beginner to advanced levels with confidence.
🔹 Beginner Course (A1-A2): Each lesson includes 30% structured learning and 70% immersive practice, using repetition drills to develop speaking fluency with a suitable textbook. The course focuses on your individual learning style and goals. Please share your preferences before the trial lesson so I can tailor the content accordingly. Mistakes are reviewed and analyzed to support steady improvement.

This course offers a personalized learning experience, with lessons tailored to each student's needs using materials from Hong Kong, Taiwan, or China. It follows a structured approach with built-in review strategies to support steady progress. Learners engage with practical, real-life scenarios—like role-playing in restaurants and boutiques—to build everyday language skills. Digital tools such as dictionaries, pronunciation guides, stroke order animations, and vocabulary builders further enhance learning and retention. It's great to have class with Carine again! In today's lesson I was able to use a lot of Cantonese to express ideas. I really love the way you give supportive feedback to the student expressions and ideas in the target language. The suggested vocabulary was very helpful and offered very naturally without breaking the student's flow of thought. I thought the mp3 listening material was just at the level that I need. After listening to the mp3, I was able to read the traditional text as I remembered the material. This is a great way to practice the vocabulary in a reading format and was a great boost to my reading confidence of traditional Chinese. I think you have some great material for our next class!

In my trial lesson, I found Ms. Yuen to be a true professional. She was warm, welcoming, and I could tell she is very experienced and accustomed to listening to the goals of her students and pinpointing what their needs are. She asked about my preferences for learning styles. To further give me an idea of what I would be studying to make me feel at ease, she gave me some sample textbooks to look at (because I said I like books for my learning style). I initially chose a trial lesson with Ms. Yuen because I was looking for someone who was extremely well-versed in the language. Although I can speak fluently, I am not very literate at all. Her credentials and experience certainly shone through in the trial lesson. I am looking forward to continuing my studies with Ms. Yuen and type a review in Chinese one day!

Ms Yuen gave a very thorough picture of our study plan. She is very accomodating to all levels of language proficiency and I felt comfortable with her even though I was a bit nervous about my language proficiency at first. I fully recommend anyone wanting to learn Cantonese to book a lesson with Ms Yuen.
