Hi, I’m Teppei. I’m a Japanese tutor based in Sweden, and I’ve taught over 8,100 lessons to more than 1,040 students. I focus on helping learners speak natural Japanese in both casual and polite (not just textbook Japanese). Many of my students tell me I’m the first teacher who actually corrects what they say properly, so they can clearly see their progress. I’m also learning Swedish myself, so I understand the challenges of learning a new language and what kind of support actually helps. I’m open-minded and easy to talk to, but I also take your progress seriously. If your goal is to speak more naturally and confidently, I’ll guide you step by step.

My lessons are focused on helping you actually improve your Japanese, not just practice it. I know a lot of conversation lessons can feel easy, but you don’t always know what you’re doing wrong. In my lessons, I actively correct your sentences and explain how to make them sound more natural. This is something many of my students say they were missing before. I mainly focus on real, natural Japanese, both casual and polite, so you can use what you learn in real conversations, not just in textbooks. At the same time, I keep the lessons structured so you always know what you’re improving. My goal is for you to leave each lesson with something clear that you can use right away.

My lessons are designed to help you speak more naturally and confidently, with clear progress each time. We will focus on these three things: Speaking practice – you actively use Japanese in conversation. Detailed correction – I correct your sentences and show you how to say them more naturally. Useful input – I introduce vocabulary, phrases, and patterns that you can actually use in real situations. I adjust the level to you, but keep a consistent structure so you always know what you’re improving. You can make mistakes freely, but I will always correct them and explain why.

I had lots of fun during my lesson! Teppei-Sensei made me excited to continue practicing and achieve my dream of talking to locals on my first trip to Japan. He’s able to adjust the casualness of the Japanese he teaches based on how well I already know Japanese people (not at all). I really appreciate that. Can’t wait for more lessons!

Teppei is a tremendous tutor and somebody who is comfortable with any level that you are at. He excels in making sure he feels like your teacher and a good friend. The hardest part of speaking a language you’re learning is to be comfortable making mistakes, but he encourages you do to so, just so you can practice the muscle memory of speaking what you’re learning. As soon as the lesson was over, it felt like it had just started and I already can’t wait to schedule my next one. If you want to practice any form of a conversation or even just small grammar points, his explanations and tips come across as very thorough and caring.

My lessons with Teppei have been great! The conversations are always enjoyable as he takes a keen interest in all sorts of things and he gives you the space to try and express yourself in Japanese as you're learning. Teppei is great at correcting errors, doing so without judgement, and without intervening too often to derail a conversation, I've learn a lot of useful phrases and words during my lessons. His English level is very high so 99% of the time he can give you a translation off the bat if you're searching for a word you don't know. More importantly the lessons are very enjoyable and a great way to practice speaking, would highly recommend!
