I’ve been taking Tarifit lessons with Meriam and I couldn’t be happier. She is patient, encouraging and really knows how to explain things clearly. I have done several (10-20) lessons with Meriam as a low intermediate student, to improve my speaking skills/confidence in addition to improving my listening. I have studied Arabic for several years, developing a strong vocabulary and reading/writing skills. However, I could not articulate any ideas into spoken Arabic. I didn’t have the flexibility to express ideas in a simpler or round-about way, and I could not follow sentences from my teacher if speech was too fast or unfamiliar words were thrown in — these are all signs of being stuck in a pattern of translating from English to Arabic and back again. I am now able to follow communication at normal/near normal speed and *understand* the Arabic in Arabic. Speaking is difficult but substantially improved. Despite a 2 year gap in formal Arabic education, Meriam was able to help me prepare for an oral interview, which placed me in the advanced level course. Thanks!
