Greetings! I'm Ismail! I was born in Geneva, Switzerland, and grew up in New York City from elementary until high school; and subsequently relocated to Australia to pursue my Bachelor's in Canberra and Master's in Sydney. I speak both English and Indonesian as my mother tongue. I have extensive work experience in media and communications, public relations, information technology, as well as international organizations. I’d like to think of myself as an expressive and communicative person – who loves to talk about anything related to traveling, history, technology, politics, movies, pop culture and much more.عني كمعلّم
English is such an expressive language, and as the global ‘lingua franca’, I believe everyone has something to gain in learning and mastering the English language.
In high school, I was in English honors, and as silly as it sounds - I consider that one of my crowning achievements in life.
As a person, I am generally very liberal and open-minded in my worldview perspective. I am also patient, and above all love to learn about new topics across many fields.

My teaching method is all about flexibility and adaptability.
My goal is to make you feel at ease, comfortable and above all relaxed in our conversational space. Ultimately, I aim to boost your confidence level and proficiency in English – be it conversationally in social settings among friends and family, public speaking or even in your career among peers and colleagues!
I am always open to suggestions - for instance, if you wish to analyze and discuss passages, news articles or even academic papers, we can definitely do that.

Big milestone in my life! I can't believe we have already had 100lessons together! When I first came to Australia, I could barely say a full sentence in English. But thanks to your guidance and patience, I have made so much progress. Now I am able to join discussions in class confidently, share my opinion, and understand complex topics.

I needed to improve my fluency in speaking English and prepare for my future job. in each lesson Ismail brought up interesting conversation topics.He also challenged and motivated me. Every lesson he made notes and sent them to me so I could practice during the week and prepare for our next lesson. He also provided many valuable tips and exercises to broaden my communication skills. The lessons with Ismail are funny but also very productive. I definitely improved my English and became more confident and fluent and learned many new vocabulary, idioms and expressions. It was always really easy to communicate with him in case I had to reschedule the lessons. He is always on time and well prepared. He is an excellent teacher and I definitely will schedule new lessons. I absolutely recommend Ismail as tutor!
