Greetings to all. 🙌 If you are looking for an experienced and certified Tibetan teacher then you are on the right profile! I am a native Tibetan speaker and currently, I am living in Dharamsala, India. I have completed my Bachelor’s Degree (Shastri Degree) in Tibetan Grammar and Literature, along with English and Buddhist Philosophy from the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarnath, Varanasi, and my Master’s degree from Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, Gangtok, Sikkim. I also work as a translator from English to Tibetan, and vice versa. My goal with teaching and life in general is to provide people with more value than they expect. 🙂عني كمعلّم
For over five years, I've been instructing Tibetan language online to individuals who aren't native speakers. Throughout this experience, I've covered a spectrum of subjects, ranging from Classical and standard Tibetan to colloquial speech, grammar, reading, and calligraphy, catering to students at all skill levels. With a roster exceeding 125 students, I've witnessed their progression from novice to adept, a testament to the collaborative efforts invested by both student and instructor. My commitment lies in demystifying Tibetan pronunciation, everyday usage, and overall fluency, tailored to each student's learning objectives.

Learning with me is fun and relaxed; 😃there is no need to be nervous about making mistakes. Your level, motivations, and learning style are more important to me, so I always keep that in mind. I am a relaxed teacher that is dedicated to your success in learning Tibetan. I will set you homework that will help you to solidify what you have learned. We can study videos, texts, audios, and other content you find interesting. Customized learning is his specialty. Norbu knows how to blend each lesson with schooling and context. His ability to guide my sometimes abstract curiosity into teachable learning makes the lessons fun and useful at the same time. I’m making way more progress than I thought possible.

Norbu-la is versatile and generous with his knowledge while eliciting from the student in an appropriate style. I have had many online teachers but this is the first time I'm able to relax and really learn in the classes. In short, I strongly recommend this teacher.

Gen Norbu-la is at the door to understanding and communicating in Tibetan and is holding it open for us to walk through. I really appreciate his wisdom and expertise and ability to explain and also educate in a very proactive and encouraging way that is motivating and engaging.

300! So happy to see how far I have progressed under Norbu la’s guidance. I started dreaming in Tibetan the other night.. I think that’s a good sign :) can’t wait to see what’s in store for our next 300 lessons 🙏🏼

Norbu Shampel La is the best language teacher I’ve ever worked with, period. Before sessions with Norbu La, I just knew a bunch of words and grammar rules that I had no idea how to put together. Now all that started making sense, gradually but steadily.
