Hi! My name is Ashley, and I teach English on italki. I am originally from a rural town in New York State, and I currently live in New York City. I also lived in Chicago, Illinois during university, which is in the middle of the United States. There, I studied political science and economics, and I took a lot of language classes. I have taken ten years of Spanish, one year of Arabic, and a semester of French. I love learning languages because it helps me learn about a ton of different cultures around the world, and it allows me to speak to people in their local languages while traveling. Also, it allows me to appreciate music and movies from different countries.عني كمعلّم
I want my students to feel comfortable practicing English with me. I know that speaking in a foreign language can be scary, but I try to be encouraging to help my students build confidence. I help students learn new vocabulary and grammar through casual conversations. For higher level English speakers, I will point out ways make phrases sound more "fluent" when possible. دروسي وأسلوب تدريسي
My lessons are in the form of conversations. I am happy to speak with students of all levels, from beginner to advanced. If you are working on specific vocabulary, we can tailor our conversation topics to allow you to use your new vocabulary words. If not, we can speak casually about hobbies, work, daily life, culture, and more to build your confidence in speaking. I will help you fix mistakes and teach you phrases to sound more like a native English speaker.5.0

Today I had my very first conversation class with Ashley and it was absolutely amazing. She is calm, kind, speaks clearly, has an amazing American accent. Besides all that, we have many topics in common, so the conversation flows easily. As is it was the first time we talked, we focused on our introduction and the things we like. But she is an easy going girl and we had a great time talking. I asked her to fix my mistakes and to use phrasal verbs and expressions to improve my spoken English, which was done perfectly. I hope we have many and many other conversation classes so that I can learn a lot from her. I highly recommend taking classes with Ashley for those who are learning English. Ashley, thank you so much to give up part of your precious Sunday to teach me English, I am so grateful for that.
