Hey there!
My name is Umuhoza Karen, your new Kiswahili and Kinyarwanda teacher. I have extensive teaching experience. I specialize in teaching Kiswahili and Kinyarwanda. I live in Kenya, but I'm from Tanzania, where "Kiswahili Sanifu" originated, so you will be speaking the perfect Swahili after a few classes with me. I grew up in Rwanda (the heart of Africa). I really love travelling because it helps me interact with people from different parts of the world. I get to learn about their culture and their language. I have been to over 10 countries in Africa and Europe.
I love teaching because it makes me interact with people from all over the world, share my knowledge, and make new friends.عني كمعلّم
I'm a very friendly and approachable person. I promise that you'll feel comfortable and relaxed in my classes. I strongly believe that talking and making mistakes is the best way to learn a language, as I will be there to correct all your mistakes.
I will be teaching Swahili and Kinyarwanda for beginners. We will start from scratch, practicing speaking and listening. I will help you improve your grammar, pronunciation and teach you new vocabulary to help you become fluent.
I will also be teaching Swahili and Kinyarwanda for travelling, if you wish to travel to any Swahili or Kinyarwanda-speaking country and want to learn the basics, I will be here to help you work on travel-related words.دروسي وأسلوب تدريسي
My classes will be designed based on your needs and interests. I will be by your side to help you decide on what topic you would like to learn. Our class will be fun as it will involve lots of interactions and conversations. We will also be watching Swahili and Kinyarwanda movies and listening to some songs as part of our class. Fun, right?
Learning a new language is not hard, it depends on who is teaching and your willingness to learn. I will make it very simple for you. I promise to encourage, understand, and motivate you throughout this journey. I can't wait to see you become fluent in Swahili and Kinyarwanda!

I recommend Umuhoza for all levels of Swahili learners. Her wealth of knowledge of different east African cultures/customs adds an extra level of benefits to taking her classes for beginners to advance level learners.

I learn a lot during her classes AND it is a lot of fun.
This must be the best way to learn a language...
She leads the class Professionally, and seems to understand very well how to adapt her curriculum to my needs, interests and learning speed.
When we talk, it is like I am in Africa already!

The lessons are truly excellent. Everything is well structured: not too fast, not too slow. I feel completely comfortable and I’m really making great progress. Karen is highly recommended! Give it a try :)

If it were possible I would definitely rate Umuhoza Karen much higher.
She was very kind and understanding in her approach and always encourages me to keep speaking Swahili. She made the lesson very fun and interactive, and she is very knowledgeable about the Swahili language, she explains clearly and precisely more than what the word means but how to use it properly she is one of the best Swahili teachers out there.
I'll definitely be doing more lessons with her, and I have nothing but great things to say about her.

My first lesson with Umuhoza Karen was great! A good introductory lesson with greetings and self introduction. Very friendly and I felt comfortable even when making mistakes. Looking forward to more lessons!
