As a son of a Balinese tour guide, I love sharing the folklore, language, culture, and traditions from Bali, Indonesia. I’m earning a degree to teach Mandarin to international students at a Chinese university. In 2021, I participated in the US State Department's YES Program for cultural exchange and leadership. In 2022, I spent the summer visiting my AFS host family from the YES Program. Each day, I use Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Bali, English and Chinese (Mandarin). I love learning languages and am dedicating my life to teaching languages in order to understand the cultural diversity. I enjoy life-long learning through traveling, and volunteering in social and cultural activities.عني كمعلّم
I teach Bahasa Indonesia and Bahasa Bali in my classes using Bahasa, English or Chinese Mandarin for instruction. I enjoy teaching all ages and language levels and welcome overseas Indonesians. The class will be designed around your needs so schedule a trial lesson to discuss your goals. We should be having fun during the learning process. In my undergrad degree from the Chinese university, I’ve been designing learning materials using multiple online formats to make classes more engaging to create a strong connection with my students. I regularly use all four of my languages in public speaking and presenting learning materials for international students and audiences.دروسي وأسلوب تدريسي
I use fun methods such as: learning from songs, games, riddles, local jokes, photos, videos and Power Point to show the language, local culture and traditions from Indonesia. I will use a relaxed study approach, hence my students would learn the language without pressure and see me as their friend. My goal for teaching is to help my students use Bahasa for everyday conversations with native speakers while traveling or making friends with Indonesians. I encourage my students to be confident when speaking Bahasa Indonesia or Bahasa Bali in public by also teaching local culture and traditions in Indonesia, especially from Bali. Dena was absolutely lovely to work with! He had clear communication through out our whole interaction. From the start he was interested in my goals. He was punctual and clear about his availability.
We decided it would be best for me to write out an introduction. I was challenged to only use my notes and my spotty memory to write out this letter. It sure was a fun exercise!
Through the whole lesson, he was very engaged. He was kind about with the corrections, and wasn't too critical. He helped me with pronunciation of the more complex words. I even left the lesson with a few new phrases under my belt to use with my friends!
I am very satisfied with the quality of work Dena provides. He is here to make sure his students are having a good time while learning. It might just be easy for him considering his fun-loving and bubbly personality. I look forward to working with him again!

Dena is the best teacher ever. I love his teaching style. He listens intently and displays calm and patience in his instruction. He always shares unique insights into Indonesian culture and language. The time I spend with him is productive, exciting, and enjoyable. My Indonesian has improved dramatically since he has been my instructor. He truly is an amazing guy and teacher! He deserves a rating higher than 5 stars!

The teacher knows what is necessary to learn and insisist on repreating and translating and making sentences in a gentle way and gives plenty of examples to memorise it more easily. I enjoy the classes and learn a lot, matur suksma 🙏
