I have enjoyed my class today as always. Girish helped me with specific vocabulary from the workplace and created a space where I could talk about difficult real-life topics without feeling overwhelmed. I had looked up some words about my burnout and legal complaint and checked them with Girish. Even difficult stories sound softer in a new language, especially Kannada, which, along with the healthy workplace that made me start my journey with Kannada, has been my emotional support during difficult times.
I am delighted to feel I am extracting something positive out of this situation, rebuilding slowly, with the support of a wonderful language teacher, grateful for his guidance, for growth, the laughter we share in the class about words, translations, meanings, making me heal one Kannada word at a time. Thanks to him, each class makes me braver about "making Kannada words dance on my tongue" (cf in Rahul Dito's song Kannadiga rapper)
