I am so grateful for Meixuan! A year ago, I would not have imagined being able to speak and understand at the level I'm at now after 7 months of lessons with her. I took lessons with many other teachers over the past few years but I always felt discouraged or like I didn't make progress, so I stopped going after a few lessons. It's hard to explain what Meixuan does differently--she is patient and encouraging, but also pushes you to improve by slowly introducing more words, grammar structures, and topics over time. But more than that, she seems to understand how to build upon what I already know rather than being too basic or expecting my level to be much better than it is (biggest struggle as a heritage language learner). I always look forward to our lessons and always feel like I am improving!

When I started taking classes with Mei Xuan, I only really knew basic greetings and not much else, and now I can comfortably read simple sentences without pinyin and feel confident having simple conversations in Chinese! I feel very accomplished, and having a kind, empathetic teacher like Mei Xuan has made all the difference. I’m really shy, but Mei Xuan always makes me feel confident by acknowledging where I tried to make a connection, even if my answer wasn’t exactly right. And the class is very organized, so I am learning very efficiently too 😊

Best Chinese teacher ever. Meixuan speaks perfect English and explains how things relate to each other in Chinese, which makes remembering much easier. Very encouraging, motivating and friendly. Highly recommended.

It's a pleasure to start off the new year by taking Mei Xuan's class, talking to her about new year resolutions (among other topics). She is truly a wonderful guide into Chinese language and culture, a knowledgeable and very nice person. I'm wishing to all of you, my virtual classmates, persistence in your studies and I'm sure Mei Xuan will help you to achieve your goals and enjoy fluent conversation in Chinese! It's really an amazing feeling when you suddenly start speaking Chinese and feel relaxed at the same time!! That's exactly what has happened to me thanks to Mei Xuan, thanks to her method and teaching style. But first of all, I wish health and inspiration to our dear teacher. May this year be filled with joy of learning for all of us.
