Moi! I'm Iiris — a Finnish teacher specializing in adult learners.
My journey with Finnish began in childhood, inspired by picture books about Santa’s homeland. Years later, I moved to Finland as an exchange student and fell in love with the language. Unlike native speakers, I started learning Finnish as an adult—so I truly understand the challenges you're facing!
Now, with an MA in Finnish language and over 2.5 years of teaching experience, I combine academic expertise with real-world learning strategies. My lessons are a great fit if you want to:
- Master grammar (my specialty!)
- Build confidence in speaking
- Explore Finnish culture (I love sharing travel tips too!)عني كمعلّم
My previous students often commented I am patient and calm. During my career as a Finnish teacher, I have taught many students from different cultures and backgrounds. I understand well that people are different, and we learn a language by different ways and speed.
I believe it is my strength that I myself learned Finnish as an adult. I understand well how it is like to learn Finnish from learners' perspectives, and I have a lot of experience to share my journeys if someone is interested in. At the same time, I am professional with a lot of experience in teaching online.
I try to offer a class, that students feel a bit more confident or feel closer to Finnish language after each lesson.دروسي وأسلوب تدريسي
I see myself that I am especially good at Finnish grammars, but my teaching style depends according to a student's preference, language levels and purposes. For beginners, we usually start with grammars, vocabulary and use the language together in a lesson. If you already have some knowledge in Finnish, we can first talk in a trial lesson and customize lessons according to your needs and focuses.
Please note: lessons which starts within 24 hours cannot be rescheduled or cancelled.
All materials are provided, so you do not need to buy or prepare, unless if you have some specific preference for materials.

Finnish language teacherEdunation provides services to those customers, who want to move to Finland for studies or works. We collaborate with the University of applied sciences in Finland, that if students complete all of our preparation programmes, they can continue their studies at University of applied sciences without entrance exams. Finnish language is the one requirement of those programmes, and I am charged with that Finnish language section (https://www.edunation.co/).

Today we went over some homework on K-P-T changes and Iiris was very helpful in providing feedback on mistakes but more importantly, helping me notice mistakes on my own, we also started working on partitive. Kiitos!

I enjoy my language classes with Iiris. The atmosphere is always relaxed, which helps me concentrate and learn more effectively. She explains new vocabulary and grammar rules clearly, and she always takes the time to answer my questions.

Iiris is such a wonderful Finnish teacher. She is kind, patient, and provides a structured lesson. As someone who is basically a complete beginner, Iiris has really helped me find a learning space where I can feel comfortable and excited to take on such a daunting language. she offers structure and a plan of attack for every student. I couldn't recommend here more. Looking forward to our next lesson.

kiitos taas! on ihanaa opiskella iirisin kanssa! i am beginning to speak more finnish when asking questions and it now feels more natural. the lessons are always great, and there are often laughs shared. this is exactly what i needed for a hard language like finnish
