My name is Debalkew Kiros. I was born and raised up in Ethiopia, Addis Ababa the capital city of Ethiopia. I have Bachelor degree on Education from Addis Ababa University. I have served as a chemistry teacher for 36 years. Amharic is my first language and I Speak intermediate Tigregna. I also speak fluent English.
I am a father of two daughters and a son. After a successful completion of 36 years of serving students of my country, I am now a proud father of three independent children and a retired teacher with plenty students making me proud. I spend most of my time enjoying with my wife & grand children. I also do physical exercises a lot. I love exploring new things all over the world.عني كمعلّم
I have the ability, the time and the experience to achieve a successful Amharic teaching. In short, I will be the light in students journey to Amharic language excellence.دروسي وأسلوب تدريسي
1. For parents who are interested to teach their kids Amharic, my three decades of experience gave me the ability to handle students of different ages.
2. For students that are coming to Ethiopia for a job, I will select conversations related to their job and their day to day activities.
3. For students who are friends with, Dating, engaged/married with an Amharic speaker, we will learn all the basics of Amharic step by step and I will make sure that they understand not only the language but also our culture.
4. For students that want to learn Amharic for no specific reason, I will enable them to explore Amharic Alphabet in detail and all the 4 language skills.

My two years in the university led me to a better understanding of my country and our beauty in diversity. It was an big milestone towards independence and a bright future.

البكالوريوس - ChemistryAfter a practical experience following my Diploma in Chemistry, I have decided to update my self and progress my academical profile by adding bachelor of education in Chemistry in one of the most renowned academical institutes in the country, Addis Ababa University. It was another enriching, challenging experience. It once again added to my social understanding and development greatly.

Debalkew is a wonderful and knowledgeable teacher. For the past two months, he has helped me with songs and improved my Amharic pronunciation while also teaching me about Ethiopian culture. This lesson we focused on Teddy Afro’s Demo Be Abay, a powerful song about the Abay (Nile) River and its deep significance. I learned words and phrases like “መሄድ በለው (Che Belew)” – “giddy up / move forward,” “ጎራዴ (Gorade)” – “sword,” and “አስተማሪ (Astamari)” – “teacher.” I’m truly grateful to be on this journey of language and culture with him. እግዚአብሔር ይባርክ። (Egziabher yibark / God bless)

I had an awesome lesson with Debalkew; we even went overtime on Teddy Afro's Naet. He breaks it down so clearly that I’m now picking up words, patterns, and pronunciation, and it gets easier each time. His recordings and write-ups make learning fun and stress-free. እግዚአብሔር ይመስገን (Egziabher yimesgen; Thank God).

Debalkew helped me study “ኦ ውሸቷን ነው” by Yohana, guiding me through the lyrics, more profound meaning, and pronunciation. We even sang it together, and he explained the difference between Ge’ez and Amharic. He is a patient & insightful teacher!

Debelkew is an amazing teacher calm, clear, and engaging. Even when I’m slow (አንዳንዴ ቀስ ነኝ), he supports me with patience. His lessons help me enjoy beautiful Amharic songs from Sami Dan, Jah Lude, and Nhatty Man. Thanks to his notes and voice recordings, I’m pronouncing better, learning through music, and letting go of anxiety. Now I actually look forward to learning. የተማሩ አንቀሳቃሽ ይችላሉ። "Those who learn can move mountains." እግዚአብሔር ይባርከው! May God bless him!
