Hi everyone! I am Marina and I have a Master’s degree in Linguistics and Teaching languages (2008). I am also TEFL certified (2025). I've been teaching English, Norwegian and Russian since 2008 and I have a passion for different cultures, languages, cuisines and lifestyles. I believe that creativity is the key to a balanced life⁠—a concept I live out through my interests in yoga, painting, cooking and reading. In my free time I like being outdoors taking on a hiking or cycling adventure or going snowboarding in the mountains. My current teaching style most closely aligns with the communicative approach because I believe that the main purpose of learning any language is the use of language for meaningful communication and being able to get to know people all over the world through language, culture, books, cuisine, etc. In my classroom I always try to foster my students to speak as much as possible providing them with authentic materials and creating real-life situations for discussions. I try to create a friendly and relaxed environment in my classroom so that the students feel free to speak a foreign language without fear and stay motivated over the time. I like the idea of using authentic books, pictures and other creative techniques that could spark an inspiration to learn a language and motivate students to use it in different ways. I always enjoy my lessons with Marina! She is kind, encouraging and very knowledgeable in Norwegian. The curriculum that Marina uses is challenging and engaging, and she uses a variety of resources (e.g., audio clips, articles, textbook exercises) to help you apply the words and phrases you learn in class. I recommend her to everyone interested in learning Norwegian!!

Marina is an excellent language instructor! I've worked with for 6 months, and she has helped me tremendously with my Norwegian. When we started our lessons, I had very limited conversational skills and had a lot of difficulty with listening exercises. Marina individualizes her lessons for my learning goals, and always uses a variety of strategies (e.g., reading, listening, practicing conversations around a theme). She's attentive, encouraging, and very consistent. I tested at a B1 level in Norwegian in 6 months, and I couldn't have done so without her help!!!
