ሰላም/Hello! I’m Yalem, a native Amharic speaker, Full-time University Lecturer, and published author from Ethiopia. I hold both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Automotive Engineering and have a deep passion for language, history, and literature. This passion led me to teach Amharic and publish my book ሥውር ወግ (ECHOES WITH THE UNSEEN), reflecting my love for storytelling; a skill I bring into every lesson.

Yalem is a great teacher he got straight into what I needed, especially pronunciation. He speaks a bit faster than my other teachers, which really helped my listening skills. I kept getting stuck on the 6th fidel (so hard!), but he was patient and gave me extra practice. Even though I was feeling run down, he picked me up and made the lesson worthwhile. He’s focused, thoughtful, and has helpful resources. Looking forward to more lessons! እግዚአብሔር ይባርክህ፣ ያለም። 🙏🏽

As usual a great lesson with teacher Yalem! Within 2-3 lessons we are already building sentences and learning some grammar. It's also really fun to learn with him, he is a relaxed and funny teacher, his way of teaching motivates me to study more.

I had my first Amharic lesson with Yalem and it was a great experience! He is very kind, patient, and explains everything clearly. You can see that he prepares well and truly cares about his students. I appreciated how much effort he put into the class and how much I learned even in just one session. I’m really looking forward to continuing my lessons with him. Highly recommended!
