At this time - I've had more than 5 lessons with Mami and satisfied with our lessons. We go through the Genki book lessons via her own presentation slides that expands on what is on the Genki textbook. What I like most is that she uses the specific vocabulary and grammar for the lessons and has a list of questions based off it. She also encourages me to ask the same question back to her and she answers it (so I get to practice my asking and listening). On some questions she asks additional follow-up questions (still using the grammar and vocabulary of the current Genki lesson) so we then kinda branch out for a short conversation (so I get to practice some casual conversation also). I learn a lot from her lessons and plan on having more lessons with her.

I've been taking lessons with Mami-sensei every week, and I have to say she is one of the best teachers I've come across on iTalki! She's a former schoolteacher so her explanations and speaking pace are just incredible. She's also fluent in English so that really helps with the explanations as well. In particular, I think she excels at leading the conversation and asking questions that keep the conversation going, so you can just focus on learning. After every lesson, she also sends detailed notes with all the vocab and sentences that were discussed, which is super useful for reviewing. Overall, I have recommended Mami-sensei to other friends and will continue to do so!

Mami is an excellent teacher!

I enjoyed my lesson with Mami-sensei a lot. Her classes are structured and fun, making use of custom-made slides, including questions and role-play scenarios. I would highly recommend Mami-sensei to everyone who's serious about taking their Japanese to the next level.
