Certified teacher with 10+ years experience! Hi, I'm Devin. I'm a naturally curious person who enjoys experiencing new things and sharing my experiences with others. I've lived in a few different countries including The USA, Costa Rica, Colombia, Thailand, and Vietnam, but I've visited many more. I like to try new foods and I'm always down for a good board game. If I have the opportunity, I will play pickleball or volleyball. I've always naturally felt happy when teaching; my mother was a teacher as well as my great-grandfather. As a teacher, first and foremost I work to make my students feel comfortable expressing themselves in the target language. The fastest way to learn is to feel relaxed and have fun. We also NEED to be okay with making mistakes; trust me I make mistakes too! And I will always be curious about you, wanting to know about your life and culture. Besides my teaching experience, I have worked at a tech startup and traveled to many countries, so let's share our stories and experiences. No matter what the topic the student is studying or practicing, I keep their goals in mind. For the more structured classes and exam prep, we must set targets/goals and work towards those. For these structured lessons, I have materials that include target vocabulary, listening practice, grammar practice and speaking practice along with writing components.
