Hello! My name is Alexandros, and I’m a passionate and experienced teacher of Ancient Greek and Greek history, with a degree from the University of Athens, specializing in Ancient Greek and Modern Greek Literature. I’ve been teaching for over 19 years, and my mission goes beyond helping students improve their grades—I strive to make learning a meaningful, personal, and enjoyable experience. Whether we’re exploring the dramas of Sophocles or the poetry of Cavafy, my goal is to bring the magic of Greek language and literature to life for every learner.عني كمعلّم
As a teacher, I’m known for being supportive, adaptable, and deeply engaged with my students. I tailor each session to the student’s strengths, weaknesses, and learning style. I help students develop critical thinking, not just memorize content. I offer continuous feedback and support even outside class hours, and I work closely with students to refine goals.
What makes my lessons special is the connection between language and culture. When we study Ancient Greek, we also explore the monuments, inscriptions, and daily life of the ancient world. Each 60-minute lesson is structured, engaging, and customized:
• Introduction (10 minutes): We review previous material and set clear goals.
• Main segment (40 minutes): Includes a concise theory presentation (e.g., Homeric characters) and plenty of practice through exercises, creative writing, and discussion.
• Wrap-up (10 minutes): Q&A, clarification, and summary.

Very knowledgeable and experienced teacher! He knows the material like a true Native (which he is; he is an Athenian...) I felt like I was back in college -- I really miss properly learning things, and I want to go back to academia to study classics, so this was a good thing for me! I think it's best to learn a little modern Greek and familiarize myself with the basics like alphabet reading and grammar before signing up for the next class, but I definitely will within the month. I'm so excited to imagine finally being able to read Homer and Plato in the ancient Greek language 🤓🤩
