こんにちは！🙋♀️ My name is Akane. I'm from Yokohama, Japan🇯🇵. I currently live in Switzerland with my husband and our adorable Shiba Inu 🐕. I speak English (B2) and German (B1+), so I can support you in multiple languages if needed 🇺🇸🇩🇪.
📚 My Lesson Offerings
A0 (Beginner): Practice writing hiragana and katakana, and learn how to introduce yourself.
A1–A2: Use Genki I & II to build a strong foundation in grammar, vocabulary, and conversation.
B1–B2: Use Quartet or できる日本語 to develop practical conversation, reading skills, and natural expressions.
C1 and above: Learn business Japanese

I teach one-on-one lessons on italki and also teach at an educational institution in 🇨🇭. I completed a 1-year Japanese Teacher Training Course (420 hours) at a Japanese university and hold a professional Japanese teaching certificate 🧑🏫. I have taught over 400 hours in total.
I’m also currently studying Linguistics and English Literature at an online university, which helps me understand how languages work and how people learn them.
Since I’m learning English and German myself, I know how tricky it can be to learn a new language. In my class, don’t worry about making mistakes — they’re just stepping stones on your way to fluency! 🌱✨ دروسي وأسلوب تدريسي
In my lessons, I use textbooks like GENKI, Minna no Nihongo, and Quartet. I teach by annotating the textbooks on PowerPoint, so you don’t need to have a physical copy of the book ☺︎.
Of course, we can also use JLPT preparation textbooks, and if you prefer, we can focus just on speaking practice.

Today we finished Genki I, and I am looking forward to continuing my studies with Akane in Genki II. Thanks to her, I am always motivated to keep learning outside of class and not lose focus.
She always explains the tasks to me in a very understandable way and helps me when I get stuck. Without her, I would not have made such great progress, which is why I am very grateful to her.

Akane is an outstanding Japanese tutor and I recommend her without hesitation. As an American learner, I am progressing very quickly with her guidance and can clearly see the results from our lessons.
She is an excellent teacher: patient, well prepared, and very clear in her explanations.
Akane creates a warm, caring atmosphere where I feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and pushing myself to speak more.
She tailors each lesson to my level and goals, balances conversation and grammar, and always encourages me in a positive, supportive way.
