Hi! I’m Lucy, a bilingual English and Chinese speaker living in Toronto. I’ve been learning English for over twenty years, starting in primary school in China. Later, at university, I also studied Japanese and French, which gave me a broader perspective on learning languages. I completed my CELTA course in 2025, where I got hands-on experience teaching adult learners. Because I learned English as a second language myself, I really understand the difficulties. Sometimes grammar feels confusing, or speaking in front of others feels stressful. I know these challenges very well, and I want to help my students feel more confident step by step.عني كمعلّم
I am a patient and supportive teacher. During my CELTA course, I planned and taught lessons for adult learners and received feedback to improve my teaching. I also have experience tutoring my younger cousins in high school subjects. My professional background before teaching was in accounting and web design, so I am very organized and detail-oriented. My teaching style is student-centered and communicative. I focus on speaking and listening, but also include reading, writing, and vocabulary. I like to use real-life topics, role-plays, and discussions, so students can practice English in ways that are useful for daily life. I give feedback in a friendly way and encourage students to try without worrying too much about mistakes.
