My name is Angela and I am from Guangzhou, China. I work as a full-time online Mandarin and Cantonese teacher.
🎈I hold National Teacher Certification and Mandarin Level Test Certificate.
🎈I possess a bachelor's degree specializing in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language.
🎈With 7+ years of online teaching experience, I have also taught kindergarten kids and secondary school students in an international school for three years.
🎈As a native speaker of Mandarin and Cantonese from Guangzhou, China, I am experienced in teaching both languages to individuals of all ages and proficiency levels.
Teaching approach:
🌸I prioritize patience while encouraging my students to speak confidently in either Mandarin or Cantonese.
🌸To facilitate learning, I provide books or study materials along with lesson notes after each session. Additionally, being fluent in English allows for effective communication during lessons.
Student outcomes:
✅My instruction focuses on developing proficiency across the four language acquisition skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing).
✅By fostering a love for learning Mandarin or Cantonese within my students, they become more confident users of the language.

A lot of native Cantonese teachers feel intimated with reading with romanization systems and with identifying the tones in the words that they pronounce. They also don’t understand that those tools are very valuable for westerners who want to learn Cantonese. Angela is one of the few exceptions among native Cantonese teachers. She will help you with getting the tones right and with using romanization systems, especially jyutping.

Many thanks to Angela for her patience and flexibility providing the right leaning content and help me advance step by step. Highly recommend Angela to everyone who looks for a teacher who is able to adjust to your needs.
I love the combination of our reading/talking classes where in one part she provides reading material that I can study any time during the week and the other serves as conversation on the basis of the reading material. It’s much more motivating reading a mix of everyday contents rather than studying artificial HSK5 textbooks alone.

I enjoyed our lesson. I speak Cantonese mainly, so it's helpful to have someone who speaks both Cantonese and Mandarin while trying to learn Mandarin. I could figure out the intricacies of both languages since some Canto phrases don't translate. And she provides content with the hanzi with pinyin on top of the word, which I find helpful!
