My friend Danny and I have been taking lessons with Mel-san for a over year now. She is an amazing teacher!!!!! She is always incredibly patient and kind no matter how many mistakes we make. Whenever our studies falter when life gets busy, she is always so understanding and willing to work at any pace. Mel-san will also teach native Japanese grammar or phrases that the textbooks can be outdated on. She is good at creating a fun, but productive environment for learning. We've loved classes with Mel-san!!!!

Mel 先生 is a really patient and wonderful teacher. Her emphasis on conversational skills has been tremendously helpful in training my brain to become more comfortable and better at using what I’ve learned. Her pacing is also great; I never feel rushed to move past points that I haven’t quite grasped yet. Thank you for another great lesson!

Mel-sensei is by far the best teacher I have worked with on iTalki throughout my Japanese studies. I recently passed JLPT N3, and I genuinely could not have done it without her guidance and support. What truly sets her apart is her extraordinary patience. She never rushes you or shows the slightest frustration when you are struggling with a difficult grammar point or searching for the right word. Because of this, you feel completely comfortable making mistakes and pushing beyond your comfort zone. Another major strength is her attention to detail. She types out key parts of our conversations and corrections in real time, so I leave every lesson with clear, organized notes that I can review and study. This has made a huge difference in my retention and overall improvement. She is a true professional and a genuinely kind person. I highly recommend her to anyone serious about improving their Japanese.

Mel is such a talented teacher! Always knows exactly how to encourage her students and what kind of pace to set for teaching materials. Always knows how to pick interesting topics to keep the learning going!
