Hi everyone! My name is Yuni, and I am a native Japanese speaker from Nara, Japan. I moved to Kentucky, U.S., in 2016 and have been teaching Japanese online since 2020.
I am passionate about languages and understand the joys and challenges of learning a new one. In addition to Japanese and English, I speak conversational Hebrew, Mandarin Chinese, and Spanish, and I also know some Arabic, Hindi, and French.
My lessons are friendly, flexible, and tailored to your needs—whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to refine your skills. I strive to create a safe and welcoming space where everyone can enjoy learning at their own pace.عني كمعلّم
As a foreign language learner myself, I truly understand how exciting yet challenging it can be to learn a new language. I have experienced the struggles of confidence in speaking. Because of this, I can help you overcome your weaknesses in a way that feels encouraging and effective.
As a student myself, I know what learners look for in a teacher—someone who is patient, supportive, and adaptable to their needs. I strive to be that kind of teacher, providing a learning space where you feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and growing at your own pace. 今日のレッスンをありがとうございました！I always have a great time talking with Yuni. She is always very friendly, encouraging, and very fun to talk with. She is an excellent teacher and I always learn a lot during our lessons. She always provides very helpful suggestions for how to improve my Japanese and help it sound more natural. She has been a tremendous help since I started taking lessons with her and I would highly recommend her as a teacher :) Thank you, Yuni!

The lesson today was excellent. My daughter was still excited after the lesson. She said, "Where is Yuni's home? How can I go there? OK, I will draw a map." And she drew a picture.

Yuni-san and I went through a few bible verses and the Lord's prayer this morning. Yuni-san was very patient and active in explaining each phrase to me. She also kindly prepared a separate document to share with me for my learning. It was a fun and productive lesson! :-) Thank you Yuni-san!

I've had two reading lessons with Yuni now and she's been an excellent teacher - she's been very patient, is good at explaining things on my level, and asks good questions about the text that seem to be at the right level for me, testing my knowledge a bit and making sure I'm picking up nuances that are definitely helping with my understanding.
Thanks Yuni and I look forward to more reading lessons :)

Yuni is an excellent teacher! She is incredibly patient, always taking the time to understand what I'm trying to say and helping me express it correctly in Japanese. Her explanations are clear and concise, especially when introducing new vocabulary or grammar. Thanks to our conversations, I feel my Japanese has significantly improved.
