My name is Max and I teach Swedish and English here on italki. I was born and raised in Sweden, but I have also studied and worked in the United States and Great Britain respectively, and I'm currently living in Taiwan where I'm studying Mandarin - so I can most definitely relate the struggles of learning a foreign language. I studied philosophy and economics in university and I am now working as a translator, specializing in business translation between Swedish and English.
I believe that learning a language should be both fun and engaging, and I will do my best to keep classes uplifting and interesting. Homework and study pace will be set according to your schedule.
Basically what I am saying is that we will customize the classes so that they suit your way of studying, and help you achieve your goals.
We will tailor the classes so they suit the goals that you have for your studies, and focus on the skills that that you want to improve on. I like to use articles as underlying material for discussion during classes, but we will adapt the class to your needs. For instance, to help a couple of my students prepare for the IELTS listening exam I assigned radio shows in various accents for them to listen to and answer questions about, and then we discussed them together in class.5.0

what a great first lesson! exactly what I needed. Max was on time, very friendly, very accurate, his Swedish pronunciation is very clear. All of my mistakes were noted in a Google Doc while my speech wasn't interrupted at all. It's exactly what you expect of a perfect lesson with a community tutor. Tack!

Max has consistently gone out of his way to make my language learning experience easier and more enjoyable. Today we went through 2 songs which Max had transcribed the lyrics for. Thanks so much for all your help, look forward to speaking soon :)

Max is a very dedicated teacher. His explanations are very detailed, and the course content is solid and well-structured. It’s especially suitable for people who want to build a strong foundation and communicate fluently in Swedish. Highly recommended!

The class is as fun as always and that’s why you can’t even tell when 1 hour has already passed sometimes :) Our third lesson went through some verb conjugation and mainly focus on past tense. I’m happy to see my progress with Max’s teaching!
