I grew up in the United States and English is my first language. I spent most of my business career working for various software companies in Silicon Valley where I was involved in all stages of software development. I have also lived in Canada for many years where I continued my career teaching business courses, special topics, and ESL courses. I also worked for a medical software company. I moved to Spain (September 2023), and I am now in the process of learning Spanish. Learning a second language has given me great empathy for my students since I have experienced struggles myself learning a new language.عني كمعلّم
My passion is teaching and I love to help my students succeed in their ESL goals and careers. My credentials to be an ESL teacher include my TEFL Certification from the University of Toronto (with a specialization in Business English and English Test Preparation). I also have a Bachelor's degree in Business. I have over 40 years of business experience, and most of my experience has been in the computer industry. multipleI have worked in various corporate positions ranging from customer support, training, curriculum and documentation, quality assurance, project management, management, etc. In addition I have volunteered teaching pre-schoolers and grade schoolers. I home-schooled both of my children for a few years (grade 6 - 12), and taught adult education courses. I feel this vast experience makes me more knowledgeable, applicable, and approachable.
