Excellent first lesson. Mia built the whole thing around things I actually need to talk about: my job, my family etc. Her speech is really clear and easy to understand, and she had me producing real sentences straight away rather than just recognising them, coming back to the same grammar points in different contexts until they stuck. She's also very positive and encouraging, which makes it much easier to have a go at speaking. She sent through clear written notes afterwards so I could review everything. Highly recommended, I've booked again.

Mia is very cheerful, enthusiastic and patient. I enjoy the lessons with her a lot. My chinese has improved a lot since starting lessons with her.

Today was a great class we focused on pronounciation especially my tones. Mia is great as I think she must feel like she is teaching a block of wood but yet is so encouraging and keeps going until I get it right. I do apps for vocab but nothing beats talking to a person in their language. Even if mine is usually a weird blend of English and Chinese Mia then teaches me to say the whole sentence in Chinese. We do the book learning but Im so glad we spend time talking about our cultures and interests and I learn to also have a casual conversation with someone. Its also good as some of the words in the books people dont use those terms in real life so Its nice to actually hear what people use instead.
