Olá! I'm Robledo, but feel free to call me Rob! I'm a professional teacher from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I have a language and education undergraduate degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and a Master's Degree in Applied Linguistics. I am also a very proud Fulbright alumnus: in 2021, I worked at Emory University, in the United States, teaching Portuguese and promoting Lusophone cultures.
Whenever I am not teaching, my hobbies include attending concerts (I'm a massive symphonic metal fan), playing videogames (Dark Souls, anyone?), and running (the Rio half.-marathon is simply unforgettable!).

I have been teaching for over 15 years, in Brazil and abroad, and I have worked with people from all kinds of backgrounds — from absolute beginners to test takers and grammar aficionados.
Together, my students and I have tackled a range of exciting challenges: from learning how to order food or behave in a "bloco de Carnaval" (did you know there's one in which they play the Pokémon theme songs?!) to writing classical poetry or reading Brazilian crime novels. I also specialize in preparing students for proficiency exams in both English (TOEFL, FCE, CAE, CPE) and Portuguese (CELPE-Bras).

Different students have different needs. My highest priority is to listen to you and understand what works for you.
Personally, I feel that language learning is successful when it is both structured and spontaneous. We need to be having fun, but we also need to be heading somewhere. I will always do my very best to ensure that you leave each class feeling that you have enjoyed yourself, but also that you have learned new structures and ideas.
I will also make sure to give you regular feedback. At the end of each class, I'll present you with a table which contains your best uses of language, some of your grammar mistakes, a list of new words, and some comments on pronunciation.موادي الخاصة بالتدريس

I cannot thank my teacher Rob enough for everything he has done for me. Without his guidance and support, I wouldn’t be able to speak Portuguese as confidently as I do today.
I feel truly blessed not only for his exceptional teaching skills but also for his kindness outside the classroom. Thanks to Rob, I had the chance to get tickets to the Taylor Swift concert in Rio – a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I will always cherish.
In class, Rob creates a safe and supportive environment where we can learn how to speak properly. He always provides constructive feedback, highlighting both the good and the areas where we can improve, especially with pronunciation. This balance makes his teaching incredibly effective and enjoyable.
Thank you for wrapping up 2024’s class with me and let’s continue studying together in 2025!

If you want to learn Brazilian Portuguese - Robledo is your guy!
Robledo is the best Portuguese teacher anyone could have. I've taken over 100 classes with him since last summer - 3 days a week - and am happy with my progression towards fluency.
Classes are always well prepared, be it reading and written assignments, games, watching videos or listening to audio..even singing and discussing famous Brazilian songs that have vocabulary and verb tenses we are learning.
...and if current events or personal life pop into the conversation, he always has an article, YouTube video, or song to share...just remember you get what you put into it!
