Jihyun

지현 선생님 한국어 수업에 정말 고맙습니다! I have been taking Korean lessons with Jihyun since December 2024 and I have been thoroughly appreciative of her and her teaching style. I am the type of who prefers structure and I enjoy the textbook that she utilizes. Her lessons are a great mix of reading, speaking, and listening. She challenges me and gets me outside of my comfort zone . The one thing that I find so helpful with Jihyun is the fact that she is a native English *and* Korean speaker so she is able to explain grammatical nuances in a way that I can understand. I love to learn but I also want to know the why. She has inspired me to set new goals in my Korean language journey and I’m thankful to have her by my side for it!

It's been a year and a half since I started to take lessons with Jihyun 선생님 in Korean, and thanks to her, I progressed so much! We are currently studying the TOPIK II exam together, and I'm so happy to have her by my side to achieve this challenge!

Jihyun provided a translation of my wedding vows in Korean that fit the meaning I was desiring, and she encouraged me in the process of practicing. She helped me with my pronunciation, intonation, and overall confidence. Jihyun excels at approaching details without losing sight of the bigger picture. I’m so very grateful to have found her and hope to continue in general Korean lessons with her in the near future :)

Jihyun is the most awesome teacher I've ever met. She understood why I needed a tutor and identified which areas to focus on and practice. We discussed potential interview questions and practiced them together. She is genuinely supportive and encouraging, and I really appreciate her help. I highly recommend J to anyone preparing for business or job interviews. 지현 샘은 정말 잘 이해하고, 가르치는 분입니다. 지현샘과 연습하면서 내가 몰랐던 부분을 이해 시켜줬고, 예상 질문을 이야기 하면서 함께 연습 했어요. 무엇보다도 영어가 익숙하지 않은 나에게 인터뷰에서 놓치는 부분을 잘 이해하도록 설명해줬어요. 지현샘을 강추 합니다!

I highly recommend learning Korean with Jihyun! Learning a new language is a vulnerable and challenging feat, and at times can even feel embarrassing. Jihyun's enthusiasm for teaching creates an extremely safe and positive learning environment where I feel comfortable making mistakes knowing I will not be judged, but encouraged and supported throughout the entirety of class. Her knowledge of both American and Korean cultures makes understanding Korean culture straightforward and relatable. Class is always enjoyable and engaging with listening and speaking practice, and Jihyun takes the time to thoroughly answer any questions I may have (and I ask a lot of questions). She ensures all material taught is reinforced until the content has been learned properly, and is very consistent and quick to send out notes from each class. Homework assigned is relevant to the material covered in class, and is never an overbearing time commitment.

I had a trial lesson with Jihyun and I will definitely be scheduling more! I enjoyed her energy and kindness. She clearly understood my needs and helped me understand her idea of the most helpful/efficient path forward.
