From 1985 to 2006 I taught Hellenic subjects such as Ancient Greek language, philosophy, literature, and mythology. I was also the CEO of the first craft brewery in Saskatchewan (between 1995 to 2019). In 2016, I returned to my academic life teaching professional communication for the College of Engineering. I am also a student of languages; Italian is my main focus, & I have started Czech. I have also studied Latin, German, Irish, and modern Greek as well. I know the challenges of learning languages! Hobbies: chess (expert level 2100), making bread & cooking generally, making soap (not soup), roasting coffee. I raised bees, horses, cats, dogs, and fish.عني كمعلّم
I am relaxed as a teacher and open to your needs. If you want a conversation with suggestions about a more natural structure, I can do that. If you would like structured lessons, I can organize readings and grammatical exercises. I like to think of grammar as the rules of the game, but these rules cannot be understood in isolation. You need to apply them to topics that interest you. The vocabulary that you build needs to be relevant to your life, and grammar follows. I strongly encourage extensive reading.دروسي وأسلوب تدريسي
Informal: let's chat and work on conversational style.

Instructor/ LecturerI was teaching ancient Greek. My sympathetic approach, and awareness of the challenges of grammar, allowed me to coax students through first-year classes all the way to the third-year level. One of my students obtained a Ph.D. in Greek poetry. The effort was all hers, but the inspiration started with me.

President/BrewmasterThis brewery gave me experience in the business and banking world. I was able to raise $2.5M, and negotiate my way around provincial regulations.

LecturerThe course of Rhetorical Communication (RCM 300) is designed for students who are seeking professional degrees. Professional written English is different from casual spoken English, and much of our class time is spent polishing and refining writing skills. Perhaps 1/3 of the course focuses on improving their spoken English and making professional presentations.

I was initially hoping to practice for the speaking section of my test, but he gave me some basic tips to really improve my English skills. He was very knowledgeable and patient to listen to my problems and learning methods first, which I really appreciate.

Sally is greedy for everything related to Greek mythology, and Steve gives her even more! From legends to paintings, sculptures to architecture, everything is presented in his carefully prepared presentation. A whole hour immersed in human civilization, it's simply magnificent!

Mr Cavan is the best teacher I’ve ever seen! He is a humorous and witty person. So there’s a lot of fun in our class which I enjoyed. He inspires me not only by teaching but also the positive attitude towards life and all things, every time when I finished our class was like a cleansing of my soul, I am a lucky guy to have him!
