I was born in Istanbul in 1983. I started teaching Turkish while studying Turkish Language and Literature at university. I worked in a language school and at universities, and I suppose I gained success. 😀 I have been teaching Turkish professionally for 15 years. I also taught Turkish for 4 years when I was a university student.
Learning a new language opens a new window into a person; teaching Turkish is the same for me! As I build a stronger relationship with my students, I notice their engagement with the Turkish language also deepens.
I could speak English well and a bit of Italian. I learned Persian and German grammar.
I am interested in literature and also a bit in music.عني كمعلّم
I hold firm to two main principles: providing a comfortable environment and creating an encouraging atmosphere.
My students always tell me that I am patient, positive and well-organized. I have developed an aptitude for making learning Turkish much easier, more efficient and practical.
My professionalism also allows me to tailor language education according to individual interests, needs, and capacities.
You will not hesitate to make mistakes in my lessons. After a while, you will realize your mistakes and start to correct yourself. Do you think that learning Turkish isn't easy? Even though I use a communicative approach, my lessons are supported by a solid knowledge of grammar because Turkish has a very different structure.
I use a book set that Istanbul University prepares. The course book is structured with a strategic approach to learning Turkish by using all the language skills: reading, grammar, writing, listening, watching, and speaking from A1 to C2. All these skills are essential for conversation.
The workbook includes many exercises for homework or revision. I support the book with my authentic materials. I use a board that you can see anytime and you can edit it, too.

I've really enjoyed my lessons with Basak. Her teaching style is really intuitive and she does a really good job breaking things down. She's also very kind, personable and patient which helps contribute to a fruitful learning environment. I would highly recommend her.

Başak is the perfect teacher. She is structured, she has a good command of the material and she is patient and allows the student to make mistakes - with notes and corrections that can be studied after the lesson. Furthermore, Başak gives homework and is quick to correct texts outside of the lesson hours. For anyone who is serious about learning Turkish, Başak is the perfect choice.

I have been taking lessons with Başak for a little over a year now and I can't recommend her enough. Prior to beginning lessons with her I attempted to teach myself Turkish with little to no success, but when I started my lessons I quickly began to flourish. In just over a year I've reached levels of comprehension that I wasn't sure were even possible for myself. She's extremely diligent, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. She's never been late for or missed a lesson once throughout our entire time working together. I've rarely had issues of miscommunication when it comes to discussing grammatical or cultural concepts. The homework she assigns is catered to a student's individual needs, abilities, and timeframes. She also finds ways to make the learning material interesting, interactive, and intuitive. Once again, I cannot recommend Başak enough.

Başak is a fantastic teacher to my 7yr old daughter who is trilingual (English, Dutch and now Turkish). I am Turkish and it’s really impressive to see how well her diction as well as vocabulary have increased in such a short amount of time. She even creates sentences on her own now and it’s such a delight to observe.
Başak is also a wonderful person to interact with and she’s just so good with my daughter. I highly recommend her to anyone, young and old trying to learn Turkish!

This is my second lesson with Başak and i can say that she is more than great at her job as a teacher. She knows how to teach well and has an approach specific to her students. I recommend 11/10 !
