Paulina Simbaña

De gringo con acento pesado a uno con acento claro. When I traveled, people would speak in "tourist talk", like one would speak in baby talk, or even switch to English. They would figure out I was a foreigner as soon as I said "hola". No more, thanks to Paulina. If you are like me – conversant yet misunderstood – believe me, you need a pronunciation teacher. And not just anyone, you need Paulina. Once bad habits get ingrained, correcting them becomes a tedious task. Paulina makes it entertaining while being very meticulous. She will encourage you and highlight the milestones in a long journey when despair feels like it's lurking around every corner. She will be conversational, yet stick to a lesson plan. If only I had done this earlier! You will go from cringe-worthy to understandable. You shed away your old self and become a new you. Or at least, that's how I feel.

Paulina has been a wonderful teacher, I have been working with her for about 6 months now. I have been trying to learn Spanish my entire life and I have never made as much progress as I have working with her. Whether the lesson is just purely conversation or working with books or a structured lesson, my time spent with her is always valuable and productive. I do believe that with Paulina's help I will finally achieve my life long goal of being fluent in spanish. Thank you Paulina!

Great experience, indeed! Introductory lesson felt fun and achievable, the teacher was giving helpful tips for practicing outside of class along with links to videos and exercises. The vibe was friendly and encouraging, so I did not feel nervous about making mistakes. I left feeling excited and motivated to keep going. Today I had a wonderful lesson with Paulina. We meant to get into our lesson plan and homework, but our conversation was going so well, we just kept going! She is very good at moving a conversation back to the lesson plan eventually, but I told her it was fine that tonight we just chat about life and happenings and it gave me excellent speaking practice. It was very nice to just relax and chat with her. Throughout the lesson she did help me with errors in my speech and pronunciation but the time just flew by. I'm writing this review to say that she's really become a good friend of mine after a year or so of lessons and we really had a great time and she gave me some great life advice! Please read my other reviews for a more detailed list of what she excels at when teaching. E.g. her attention to detail with both pronunciation and grammar is second to none. My Spanish has improved more with her in a year than ever before with multiple teachers. She's amazing. The best teacher I've had.

Paulina is very friendly, honest and professional. Our classes up until now have been for the purpose of building confidence and fluidity. They have far and away exceeded my expectations. She is prompt and makes corrections where necessary without interrupting conversational flow. We have made plans to work more specifically on my accent and grammatical prowess in order that I may reach my goal to one day serve as translator. I recommend her to anyone serious about learning and improving their Spanish! Patrick
