Hello! I’m an American English teacher originally from the State of Mississippi, now based in Lima, Perú. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology and a Law Degree (Juris Doctorate) from the University of Mississippi.
From 2007 to 2018, I worked in the U.S. legal field as a legal assistant and legal document analyst. In 2015, I passed the Mississippi Bar Exam, becoming a licensed attorney in Mississippi.
In 2019, I decided to pursue my dream of living in Latin America and learning Spanish fluently. I packed my bags and moved to Lima, Perú, where I now enjoy sharing my love of language and helping students improve their English skills.

In January of 2020 I completed the Via Lingua TEFL and TESOL certification course in Arequipa, Perú. I also earned a certificate from the International TEFL Academy for Teaching English Online and completed a certification course in Teaching Business English.
I teach online, full time.
Please do not try to do our lessons on a phone. These lessons have PDFs, videos, audios, and we use the platform chat box for notes so it is better to use a computer for the lessons.

I focus on conversation classes using a direct, interactive approach. In my lessons, YOU will do most of the talking—because the best way to learn to speak English is by speaking it!
I’ll guide you in building confidence, overcoming shyness, and improving your ability to communicate effectively. As we talk, you’ll also get valuable experience listening to and understanding a native English speaker.

James and I have been working together for almost 4 years now. He has helped me progress from the beginner to the C1 speaking level. His lessons are always focused and structured but they are fun and engaging at the same time. I am a lawyer and law professor and James has taught me a lot about legal English and I feel like I can speak about legal concepts in English confidently now. James and I have frequently worked on editing my legal articles that I publish in English. We work on preparing for lectures I need to give in English and helping me write messages and communicate with my foreign colleagues and collaborators. I highly recommend him.

It was an interesting trial lesson! James gave me interesting pictures to describe in English and he asked me questions. He gave me materials to work on during the lesson and he corrected my mistakes in grammar and vocabulary. I hope to see him again!

It has been a long time since I learned English with James. I never had the idea of changing teachers. We have worked together continuously. He never gave up on teaching me and I think my English is improving continuously. James has taught me how to speak correctly and correct my sentences. I am exited to do classes with him because we have interesting topics to discuss. I wish to dream the stories in English someday. That means I can speak English fluently. Thanks James.

Teacher James is patient and supportive. He always encourages me to speak. He has a well-structured way of teaching that keeps you motivated to practice and improve your English. After just one trial lesson with him, I already feel more confident than before.
