Hello, everyone! I am Elena. I am from Guangzhou, a city in south China.
My Chinese name is Jiaxian; I am a native speaker of Mandarin and Cantonese.
I have been working as a language school teacher in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English for over five years. I mainly teach international students. In the classroom, I teach the language and share cultural and historical knowledge.عني كمعلّم
I already have 7 years of experience in online teaching, with certification to teach Chinese and English to adults and children. Also, I have completed IELTS teacher training courses with a certificate.
When I was in New Zealand for a working holiday a few years ago, I realized that learning their language is always the best way to know more about different cultures. That's why I want to help people who learn about the Chinese language and culture. I used to work in the retail and management industry and enjoy communicating with people. We would have many topics for our conversation, such as travel, business, daily life, etc. I hope my class can make you feel comfortable practicing as much as possible.

We reviewed the lesson from last week as well as new material on the same topic. Was very thorough in explaining things I wasn't sure of. She also asked my questions to back up what we just talked about, and went through exercises.

As usual, we talked about our day and the weekend, which opened up for more conversations about other things like travel and culture. After, we moved on to the reading material, and my teacher asked questions based on the topics of the material discussed, giving room for more conversation. Whenever I didn't know a word, I would ask my teacher, and she would write it down for me to learn. Her teaching style is great!

We started by talking about our day and our weekend, which gave me lots of opportunities to talk about a lot of things, and from there we talked about culture and travel. Then we moved on to the reading materials and learned new grammar. I think her approach to teaching Cantonese is great, as she would ask questions regarding the topics to enable further communication. If I didn't know a certain word, then I asked her about it, and she let me know and wrote it down for me to review.
