Hi italki-ers! My name is John. I'm 22 years old and currently living in Saigon, Vietnam. I am a language enthusiast and would like to make friends from diverse cultural backgrounds as much as possible. Vietnamese is my native language, specifically the southern accent. I am also fluent in English and have some knowledge of German. I've encountered many challenges when learning languages, but I believe that learning from these experiences can help us to overcome them. I hope that my knowledge of Vietnamese can bring you joy and that your joy is also mine.

I have been studying abroad in Switzerland for 2 years, majoring in Hospitality Management and making friends from many different cultural backgrounds. I have also worked in international hotels as a receptionist and restaurant server during my time there. Through my experiences, I've learned how important it is to communicate effectively with people from different backgrounds. That's why I consider myself a language buddy, friend, or customer service person to help you out in any way I can. I believe that my teaching methods are primarily student-centered, and I can bring additional materials to support our lessons. I'm also passionate about sharing my culture through teaching. I can help improve your Vietnamese speaking skills through conversational classes, allowing you to freely discuss any topic and receive feedback to improve your language skills.
If you're an absolute beginner, I can start from scratch by introducing the Vietnamese alphabet and sounds, as well as basic grammar systematically.

This was a surprisingly enjoyable class! Our class is focusing on pronunciation which, for me, has always been difficult. But for once I think I am finally understanding some of the nuances. I am really looking forward to future classes.

One thing I love about John is his ability to provide guidance on how to produce Vietnamese sounds and tones. Vietnamese is so different from English so there is often not a corresponding feature in English we can relate to to produce Vietnamese . So I appreciate the fact that he can find other linguistic references I can related to.
