Hi, I’m Karen—a native English teacher from South Africa with 20+ years of experience. My background as a magazine journalist sharpened my eye for clear, engaging communication, which I now bring to every lesson.
I specialize in helping students of all ages (kids to adults) master grammar, fluency, and pronunciation while building confidence. Whether you’re prepping for an interview, IELTS, or just daily conversations, my adaptable approach ensures lessons fit *your* goals.

Each student has different needs and strengths and I strive to adapt each lesson according to you as my student.
I have been working on Italki and other teaching platforms for 5 years with students ranging from children to adults. Whether you're a beginner or improving your fluency; whether you are preparing for an iterview or and Ielts test, I tailor every lesson to meet your unique goals.

My lessons are well-rounded -- Conversation is by far the best way to learn and improve your English skills. However, grammar is always needed and I include grammar especially when correcting your mistakes.
We work out of various grammar books, I like looking at videos and reading articles, so my lessons are varied.
My teaching style is relaxed, supportive and focused on everyday conversation.
