Hi everyone!
My name is Jonathan, and I currently live in the German city of Halle (Saale), where I completed my Bachelor's degree in Psychology in 2024. I’ve always been fascinated by how people can thrive in different contexts.
I discovered Italki over five years ago, and since then, I’ve taught more than 100 students from various countries. Through teaching, I’ve learned a lot about language, communication, and the diverse ways people learn.
In my free time, I enjoy playing sports and making music. I also love discussing topics such as society, politics, health, and—of course—psychology.

In my years of experience as a "Community Tutor" on Italki, I’ve developed a range of effective teaching approaches that cater to the individual needs of learners. For the past two years, I’ve been a certified German teacher, having earned my certification from the Goethe-Institut, where I was able to deepen my pedagogical skills.

My goal is to balance both by creating an individual strategy for each student. Whether through engaging conversations or structured grammar teaching, I adapt my approach to your needs.

Es ist immer toll mit Jonathan zu sprechen.Er hat mich immer sehr geduldig ermutigt, Deutsch zu sprechen, und hat mich umgehend auf meine Fehler hingewiesen. Außerdem habe ich in dieser Klasse eine Menge neuer Vokabeln und Ausdrücke gelernt, so dass ich viel Spaß hatte!

Jonathan is an open-minded person and is constantly smiling, it’s always nice to chat with him! I was looking for someone to regularly talk to, so that I can improve my fluency without being continuously interrupted to correct even the smallest mistakes. I like the way he waits for the appropriate moment to discuss about the errors and that he even points out how something can be better phrased. Highly recommended!

Es ist immer noch sehr spannend, mit ihm Deutsch zu lernen. Unsere Freundschaft hat angefangen, als ich auf Niveau A1-A2 war. Jetzt bin ich auf B2. Am Anfang hatte ich immer Bauchschmerzen als ich Deutsch sprechen musste. Aber ich habe das Gefühl mit Jonathan sehr schnell überwunden.

Jonathan is a well-prepared and patient teacher that always takes time to fully answer any questions that I have. The lessons are well-organized, and he consistently provides material that is appropriately challenging for a beginner like me. Probably the best endorsement I can give for Jonathan is that I look forward to every class and look forward to learning what is next. With his classes, I feel that my progress with German is much faster than with some of the other languages that I've learned.
