I am a native speaker of Mandarin and Shanghainese. I completed my bachelor's in Nanjing, China and received the Master's degree from University of Waterloo in December 2024. In my free time, I enjoy climbing, working out at the gym, watching movies, and traveling. I love engaging in conversations with people from diverse backgrounds and sharing interesting life experiences. Previously, I worked as a software engineer in Shanghai for six months. With an IELTS speaking score of 7 and a GRE score of 323, I have the ability to explain Mandarin to complete beginners and ensure they understand. I've been teaching Chinese since 2020 and have volunteered to assist international students at school, giving me teaching experience with both teenagers and adults.

According to Stephen Krashen's language acquisition theories, students learn the language best when the input is just beyond their current level (i.e. can understand about 80%) and in an anxiety-free environment. In this case, I have prepared learning materials from novels, non-fictions, TV series and animes, which are not typically utilized in traditional classroom settings. I select materials that align with the student's level and ensure that the tutorials are highly engaging.
