I am a native English speaker and I live and have lived most of my life in England. I am a qualified teacher for English as a second language. I live in the countryside, which I love and I have a grown up family. Dogs and horses have always been part of my life. I have taught English to Speakers of Other languages for 15 years, mostly in secure institutions. For the students I teach, English is essential to access education and employment within the UK. I have taught students from complete beginners and upwards. I am used to teaching reading, writing & speaking & listening skills. I specialize in beginner A1 students through to intermediate B2 and above. My delight is in seeing a student develop from struggling to articulate themselves in English, to being able explain confidently what they want. I will plan lessons according to your needs, I like to deliver structured lessons but I am also happy with a general conversational lesson. I can help you learn different grammatical structures and prepare you for tests if that is what you need. I can help you develop and expand your reading and writing skills. I have an in-depth knowledge of the grammar, lexis and phonology of the English language. I am extremely sensitive to the factors influencing the use of English, both personal and social cultural and historical. I am interested in the key theories of language acquisition and development.

Lavinia is a great teacher. With her help I have improved my speaking and writing enormously! Our lessons are really fun and always useful. Moreover, our lessons are really well-structured. Lavinia presents a variety of topics in the areas like history , politics, philosophy and economics and many others for our lessons. Then we discuss these topics on the lesson and the discussion is always fascinating and interactive. Sometimes I’ m given a task of writing an essay on one of these topics and than we review it with Lavinia and she always gives great advice and suggestions for my writing. Furthermore, through speaking with Lavinia you start catching the classic British accent which is really beautiful. She is also a very kind, calm and supportive teacher with amazing life stories and a great sense of humor! I would highly recommend choosing Lavinia as your English teacher!

I really enjoyed my session with Lavinia. She is very professional. During the session she balanced the need to being encouraging whilst being able to point out my mistakes very well. She could also explain to me why I made such a mistake.

I’ve been having lessons with Lavinia for three years, and they have become much more than just language practice. We often talk about England and London, and she knows so much about British history, culture, and daily life that conversations with her are both useful and enjoyable. My lessons are mostly conversation-based, but Lavinia easily adapts to different learning styles. If you prefer structured lessons with exercises, she provides them. If you just want to practise speaking, she creates a comfortable atmosphere. Her English sounds amazing—classic British speech: clear, effortless, and with a beautifully crisp accent. She gently corrects mistakes and helps express ideas more naturally. Arranging lessons is always easy, and Lavinia is very punctual. She is also kind and friendly, which makes learning relaxed and enjoyable. If you’re interested in British traditions or classic hobbies like horse riding and racing, you’ll enjoy conversations with her even more.
