Hey there. My name is Joana and I live in Rio Grande do Sul - a very beautiful state in Brazil.
I started studying English in 2012 and I fell in love with this beautiful language. On the other hand, I also love Portuguese, which is my native language, and I think that we have a lot of interesting expressions in each state of Brazil.
I love traveling and I always try to visit different places in Brazil, there are so many nice places to see here.
I enjoy having everyday conversations about our Brazilian culture, our music, our food, our movies, places to visit, or about other things you may be interested in.

As a community tutor here on Italki I have been helping people from many different countries to improve their skills in Portuguese. I love having conversations with the students to understand about their learning process and I try to help them with everything I can! You can feel free to ask questions and make mistakes because I truly understand how challenging it is to learn a new language. Portuguese is a complex language because of its pronunciation and grammar rules. But I can assure you it is not impossible to achieve fluency in Portuguese. My classes will focus on the topics you want to improve and you can feel free to tell me what you want to talk about in each class. I believe the best way to learn is to challenge yourself into having conversations that may be hard in the beginning, but will help you with fluency and pronunciation. I really enjoy classes with Joana. She is very friendly, energetic, and a great resource in helping me during this journey to learn Portuguese. Her english is excellent which makes explanations or corrections quick and easy during class.

Joana was great! We were able to talk through everything I needed as far as materials, resources, and structure. Plus she has over 5 years experience teaching She made it fun and interactive allowing the conversation to go wherever so it felt more like a normal conversation . Highly recommend!
