Hi! My name is John, and I teach English here at Italki. I'm originally from the United States and I'm currenly living in Mexico City, where I study economics and teach English in-person. I love traveling, talking about culture, history, and languages, photography, and music. I also love to cook, but for your health and safety, I'm not going to share.
Before moving to Mexico, I got my degree in social studies education and taught in an American high school for four years. I use this experience - plus my TEFL certification - in my private English lessons to create engaging material for A0 - C1 students.
I don't believe that copy/paste teaching is effective, so I craft each lesson to the needs of each student. In our first lesson, we'll discuss your language level, interests, and goals, which lets me create personalized lessons that will as practical as possible.موادي الخاصة بالتدريس

History TeacherI taught history and economics to a diverse student body for four years. Additionally, I was the Social Studies department head for two years, which meant that I created the classroom materials for the history teachers.

English TeacherFrom August 2025 - present (please note the application would not allow me to select a start year later than 2022), I give private English lessons in Coyoacán, Mexico City to students ranging from A0 - C1. In September 2025, I completed a TEFL 20-hour certification.
