Hi! My name is Max. I’m a native Japanese speaker from Kobe, Japan and I can’t wait to be your Japanese teacher. When I was in high school, I had a chance to study abroad. I went to the United States and graduated from high school and university. There, I majored in Linguistics and learned how to teach English. I was working as a recruiter hiring non-Japanese people who are interested in working in Japan and Japanese people who were studying overseas wanting to get a job when they return. I was also a trainer helping people to become a teacher. So, I love traveling! I have lived and worked in LA, Chicago and NYC in the past. I have traveled to many other countries. I have started teaching as a teaching assistant in Japanese classes when I was going to college. For the last 20 years, I've been helping new employees to get adjusted to their lives in Japan. Teaching basic Japanese was one of the support I was providing. I have helped my friends to pass JLPT. I have also supported foreign tourists as a volunteer guide in Tokyo, Osaka and Hiroshima. Therefore, I am confident that I can support beginner level students well. I love seeing their smiles when they were able to use the language that they learned with locals. That’s the best thing when you are learning a new language. We will talk a lot in my class. That's the best way to gain confidence. Great lesson again with Max, who helps me prepare for JLPT with adequate resources. His level of English is also very useful to provide clear explanations.

I've written a review before but it was some years ago, so I'll update. Max-sensei is an extraordinary teacher: a charismatic who uses his lively personality to get you talking, and knows how to correct you without inhibiting you. He carries my highest recommendation.

Once again, great lesson with Max. May you wish to practice your conversation freely, your reading, or prepare for JLPT, Max will be resourceful. He also speaks English fluently, which makes his explanations flawless.

Max was fantastic! He was my first trial lesson for Japanese conversation and I was very impressed. He confirmed that I am an intermediate learner and provided steady feedback and provided the right words when I couldn’t think of them. He was very kind and encouraging. I highly recommend Max!

Another great lesson with Max. While many tutors will help by correcting your Japanese as you speak, Max actively pushes your it further by explaining clearly, and inciting you to use new grammar and vocabulary.
