I used to be a preschool teacher/Japanese language teacher at bilingual program in San Francisco for 6 years. After I came back to Japan, I became a private sushi chef to teach how to make sushi mainly and certified English speaking tour guide to introduce Japanese culture in a variety of aspects to a great number of tourists from all over the world. Me and guests always had great time together not only teaching and learning but also getting to know each other as human beings.
Teaching Japanese culture is my passion! Now I want to offer my skill and knowledge to people who want to learn Japanese language. Let's have fun together!

My first priority is students' interests and purposes of taking lessons. I'm here to help you attain your goals no matter what they are. I usually take students from intermediate to advanced level speakers since I'm a community tutor who don't have a structured series of courses with textbooks. For completely beginners and those who are younger than 18, I recommend to consider taking lessons with other professional tutors.
My classes will also be good for those who are planning to visit Japan since I can provide lots of useful information of sightseeing spots, cultural perspectives and useful greetings/phrases/words as a traveler.

I will be flexible in style of the lesson and it totally depends on students' interests. Focusing on conversation without any materials, writing hiragana, katakana and kanji, studying grammar mainly by using your favorite textbooks, reading articles about current issues, and etc. We can discuss together how our classes should be conducted in advance. Lesson materials will vary from youtube videos to cooking books. Let's create unique lessons together just for you to achieve your goals and have fun! made the lesson very comfortable and easy to work on the things I wanted. he also made recommendations on areas of improvement that he noticed and how I could improve those areas. we developed a lesson structure that worked well for the areas where I could improve the most. also your English very well where he could discern nuances in questions I was asking and needed clarification. this was more important then I realized.
of all the native speakers I tried so far, this was the best experience

Lesson's with Mamoru are always great. He is very well spoken and able to explain different things very well. His English is very advanced, so if I am ever not able to understand a complex explanation in Japanese, he is able to explain it well in English. I always feel I learn a lot from all of our lessons

Mamoru is kind and patient, and always so generous with his time and polite corrections. I have an absolute terrible memory and he’s always very forgiving of all my blunders. He has made learning fun and engaging. On top of that, he is just a wonderful person to talk to and spend time with.
