I've been taking French lessons with Romain on and off for a couple of years now. When it comes to what makes him special or different, several things come to mind. I really appreciate Romain’s dedication to explaining everyday conversational language and slang terminology. Learning these aspects on one's own can be challenging. Besides being a teacher, Romain is also a musician who willingly shares his love of music with those interested. Thanks to him, I've curated an extensive playlist of fabulous French songs. There is no way that I would’ve discovered all of those songs (of such excellent taste!) on my own. Although we haven’t used this approach in a while, I remember that when we first started lessons, we utilized his visual system. For beginners or for those who feel a bit rusty, I believe that this system provides a great way to get started. It certainly helped me gain more confidence in speaking.

Every lesson so far has been exceptional. I know many teachers on Italki get 5 star reviews because thats the way things have gone here, but Romain, is in a league of his own. His preparation and years of hard work to build his visual teaching platform, makes for a very organized and productive lesson each time. As I wrote in a previous review, this is a much better approach for beginners and intermediates than just trying to have an open ended discussion about whatever comes up.

I was so glad to find Romain as my instructor. in the first class, he actually guided me and made me speak French! I've been watching YouTube clips and listening Podcasts in French but I've always have problems with my output - speaking, and that is the reason I've decided to look for professional instructor to help me. I'm learned so much in this first class, and I can't wait to start my next class with Romain. Thank you so much.

After 100 lessons and more than a year of continuous study, I can honestly say that Romain is an exceptional French professor whose greatest strength is his commitment to adapting his methods to meet the needs of his students. Before our first lesson, I sent him a message explaining my unique learning needs and shared why I believed his program would be a good fit while also offering him the opportunity to decline. Instead, he took time to research my situation and arrived fully prepared to meet me where I was from the very first lesson. On my good days, we worked harder. On days when I struggled, he helped me through with review and reinforcement of fundamentals. I have never felt bad, ashamed, or embarrassed while working with Romain. Thanks to his guidance, I can now have complex conversations in French. I can confidently say that I was fortunate to find not only an outstanding teacher but a compassionate person who goes above and beyond for his students.
