🙋🏻♂️ Hello! My name is Carlos. I was born and raised in Venezuela, and I currently live in Chile.
🤓 I am a certified Mechanical Engineer, but in recent years I have transitioned into programming, working with Python and Java. I am also a certified Spanish teacher, and I am passionate about helping students improve their communication skills in a natural and practical way.
☺️ My classes are mainly conducted in Spanish to help you immerse yourself in the language, but I can also explain concepts in English when necessary.
🧐 I am a patient, supportive, and understanding teacher. I focus mainly on speaking and listening practice, because I believe real communication is the key to learning a language. However, I can also provide structured grammar lessons with clear explanations and practical exercises if you need them.
In my lessons, you will:
* Practice real conversations about daily life, hobbies, and current topics
* Improve your fluency and confidence
* Learn useful vocabulary and natural expressions
* Receive personalized feedback and corrections
I encourage you to feel free to make mistakes—this is a normal and important part of the learning process.
⚠️ Note: I use the FREE version of Zoom, which may end sessions after 40 minutes. I suggest the following:

Exactly one year ago today, I took my first italki lesson with Carlos. He is a great teacher - knowledgeable energetic, kind, patient, the list goes on, but what I really want to highlight is that learning Spanish with him has been a rewarding experience for me.
I never wanted to learn Spanish, but due to some life changes, I found myself in Peru unable to speak the language.
Within a few months of learning from Carlos, I went from zero to being able to communicate with people. The work that went into that was a lot from both our parts, but I’m grateful for all the lessons and his patience with me when I was frustrated with the language at times. He has also taught me a lot about Latin American culture and I have grown to have an appreciation for South America that I never had before.
I have more than enough words to have full conversations with locals and live life now, but my goal has changed - I want to be fluent because Carlos has inspired me to be.

I have already taken formal classes. Now I need practice and reinforcement of what I've already learned. Carlos is aware that I want to work on listening, speaking and interacting, and we do this with discussions on interesting topics where he encourages a back and forth conversation (with his corrections along the way, verbally and also written when he can see that I don't quite understand). Until now I have been reticent to try speaking in Spanish and the sessions are definitely helping me to get past my fears. Sometimes I will worry about how it will go (because of me) but then the time flies by!

Super friendly guy. Explains things well. The way he gives corrections is great and allows the conversation to keep flowing. Great conversationalist and I recommend chatting with him if you want to practice Spanish and get some good feedback.

Carlos is a very empathetic, intelligent, and patient teacher. I couldn’t ask for anyone better. He is full of energy, motivation, and passion, and he has a very unique and effective way of teaching. I started with him as an absolute beginner, and now, two months later, we can have two hours of conversation, including questions and answers. I absolutely recommend him as a teacher.
