I am very open minded and ready to work with you to achieve your goals. Are you a beginner?? Don't worry, I have everything you are looking for. I provide short, direct and diverse learning materials for Swahili, English and Luo grammar classes. After a few classes we try one round of conversation to gauge learning progress.
In the intermediate level? Well, we can always converse about culture, food, music, football, business and life in general. Come on, book with me, let's laugh as we learn.عني كمعلّم
My teaching style is deeply rooted in the principles of student-centered learning and individualized instruction. I believe that to effectively meet the diverse needs of my students, I must tailor my teaching approach to accommodate their unique backgrounds, learning styles, and abilities. Adult vs kids classes.
Go no further. When working with kids, I provide flash cards, we perform role plays that keep our young ones interested and learning.
Adult classes go a mile further, we have the use of PowerPoint presentations, Songs, Pdfs, cards, stories, role-plays and any appropriate learning material you will need or have in the lesson.

I liked that already in the second lesson Shallete provided enough information to start constructing simple sentences - I have enough information already to say over 100 sentences with all the tenses and verbs! My son enjoyed learning more numbers and other simple vocabulary in his lesson.

Shallete is amazing! She is so easy and comfortable to talk with and makes helpful corrections both in my language skills and in the broader way that I think about learning and practicing Swahili. She is super flexible and so encouraging. Highly recommend her!!

Both my son and I had an introductory lessons with Shallete and even though we covered similar material, she changed how she did it with my 7 year old son vs me. She clearly understands that children and adults learn differently. We are excited to keep learning Luo with her!
