Irene

Irene is a great teacher! She has helped me along the journey of learning this beautiful language for over a year now. Irene is very nice and friendly. I have never felt odd or out of place during our lessons. The lessons are fun and challenging to the perfect degree. I have improved my Italian by the exercises and routines we go through during our lessons, and she gives honest feedback and gauges the level of the lesson based on your knowledge and ability. in other words, she provides the proper lesson according to your strengths and weaknesses. I can honestly say our lessons together have paid off a lot!

It has to be said: Irene is an exceptionally gifted instructor. She is highly attentive to what students want to achieve, to what they might need in order to reach their goals, and also to what might be hindering them, psychologically or otherwise. She has a deep curiosity about what goes on inside the head/brain of the L2 learner -- a curiosity that has led her to explore the relevant neuroscientific findings. This same passion for discovery is reflected in the joy she demonstrates when, together, she and her students uncover underlying motivations or discover strategies and tricks for understanding more deeply the structures of the language. Always full of encouragement, always down to earth and approachable, Irene is a top-notch facilitator of Italian language-learning.

Irene’s educational approach is both effective and enjoyable: she teaches not only the language, but *how* to learn the language, and her instruction is always thorough and patient. Irene is also incredibly talented at personalizing lessons to students’ interests—we share a love of history and we always find something interesting to discuss, so lessons are consistently engaging. My Italian has improved so much since I started taking lessons with Irene over a year ago—she is an instructor of the highest caliber, and I recommend her wholeheartedly.
