Hi! I’m Thu, a native Vietnamese teacher from Hanoi’s Old Quarter. I mainly teach Northern Vietnamese but am also familiar with the Southern dialect after living in Ho Chi Minh City. I speak English and Mandarin Chinese, so I understand the challenges of learning a new language. Before teaching online, I worked for 7 years in five-star hotels in Hanoi and often taught Vietnamese to international guests. For the past 6 years, I’ve taught students worldwide both online and in person. My lessons focus on natural communication in a relaxed, supportive environment where students can speak confidently, improve pronunciation, and use Vietnamese naturally in daily conversations.
I've always loved learning and teaching new languages.Other than my native Vietnamese, I also know English and Mandarin Chinese.Learning Chinese has helped me to empathise with students learning language.
When I was working in the hotels, I was already helping my clients and guests to learn Vietnamese for their business needs or just to make their vacations more pleasant and comfortable.
For the past 3 years, I've been teaching many students,online and in person,the Vietnamese language and they hail from every part of the world, from the United States, to Europe, to here in Asia.Most of my students are able to communicate with me fluently (according to their needs and goals) in Vietnamese

Thu is the best teacher i have had on Italki in any language. She is not only great at teaching but works well to adapt to your individual learning styleIf you like customized notes she types amazingly fast and makes updates before her lessons. She really works hard for her money and has a great personality. Its amazing how far she has taken me i really feel i can speak a language i once thought was impossible.

Great lesson with Thu! We started with small talk, then proceeded to work on exercises from the textbook. Thu did a great job of helping me with vocabulary and giving me positive reinforcement!

Great lesson with Thu. We started with small talk, and after that worked on exercises from the textbook on "classifiers". Thu did a great job of making sure I had proper pronunciation and helped correct me when I made a mistake!
