Hi everyone! This is Karen from Guangzhou, China. Guangzhou is a city full of history and diversity. As a Cantonese who was born and grew up in Guangzhou, I'm very interested in language learning and teaching. I can speak Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese as my mother tongues, fluent English, and some Japanese and Thai language. In my spare time, I like cooking, hiking and ballet. I have been a Chinese teaching volunteer for overseas students at college for 4 years and a tutor in a language training institution for kids for 3 years. I have made friends from Thailand, Pakistan, Equatorial Guinea, etc. I also organized and participated in some cross-cultural events like visiting local attraction, making paper cuttings and introducing “Yum Cha” culture of Guangdong. I bring systematized and careful explanation in my lesson. Meanwhile I have specific teaching plans for different students. I have been using Karen as Cantonese teacher for my kids for the past few years. She is interactive, attentive, and very fun to learn from. My kids love her and will definitely recommend her to anyone that's interested in learning the Chinese language.

Patient teacher! Has materials prepared to guide you, and the material covers different topics on different levels, so youre sure to slowly study on things you might not have known. Karen is pretty perceptive and accurate in sensing what i need. Its nice working with her!

Very well structured and speaks at a level i understand! I feel almost fluent when i speak with karen, which is great for improving my speaking even with limited vocabulary! Definitely one of the more effective tutors ive been with 😊
