Hi, I’m Etsuko! I’m a native Japanese speaker. I was born and raised in Fukui Prefecture. There is a dinosaur museum nearby. (わたしは、えつこです。恐竜博物館で有名な福井県にすんでいます。）
I have two granddaughters. They are very talkative. Watching them learn to speak, I became more interested in the Japanese language. I learned many things that I did not know even though I am Japanese. The Japanese language is very interesting.（孫たちが話せるようになるのを見ていて、日本語がとても興味深いと思うようになりました。）عني كمعلّم
I was an elementary school teacher for 35 years. I have a lot of experience teaching hiragana, katakana, kanji, and reading Japanese. Depending on your level of Japanese, I can use easy Japanese or speak politely. Furthermore, I have passed the Japanese Language Teaching Competency Test.
I have experience teaching English to third graders and above. In addition to teaching, I am also continuing to learn English. I take online lessons on "italki" and join a local English chatting club.

I teach using “Irodori” in the beginner’s class. You don't need to buy the textbook because you can download it from the website. I also show the text in PowerPoint or PDFs, so you don't need to download it to learn. I also love Genki's textbooks. I teach the intermediate level using “Marugoto”. You will need to purchase the textbook. I also have other textbooks. If you want to use one, I can deal with it. My role-playing and making sentences from pictures lessons are also very popular.

While the entire lesson was in Japanese, Etsuko sensei would re-enact certain scenarios to help me better understand the grammar used in daily life. Always an engaging and fun class with Etsuko sensei!

Always a pleasure with Etsuko-san. We mostly chat since it's been a while since last year. We talked about family, the winter holidays and new year, and shared study materials (I learned about a manga-style textbook). Always friendly and easy to talk with, and will help correct mistakes occasionally. Thank you!

今日もありがとうございました！Etsuko-san is very patient and kind — she is an expert teacher! I always have a great time, learn a lot, and I’m not afraid to make mistakes. I appreciate how we practise reading, speaking, and listening all at once. Over time, I feel myself becoming more comfortable and confident in speaking Japanese and expressing my ideas in my own words.

Today’s class was quite good where Etsuko-sensei brought additional materials to help me better understand the grammar. N2 grammar can be very confusing so the supporting materials made it easier to grasp the concepts and nuisances across similar grammar structures.
