Meet Cyrus Davis, who has spent all his working life in journalism. He's been a news reporter, sports reporter, and headline writer. Now, he works for The Evening Star, a local daily paper published in Birmingham, and he is the editor of the paper's online version. "The Star covers current affair, sport, crime, and so on, and there is always at least one item about a cultural subject. But the sad truth is that newspaper sales are falling fast, and newspapers could disappear forever if the industry cannot make money from online sales."

In this third part of the Neil McTaggart story, 18-year-old Neil arrives in 1920s Ontario, Canada, to live with his uncle Robert Jefferey — a firm but fair man from his mother's side. Neil, unable to read or write, begins adjusting to life in a deeply religious, structured household. This chapter explores the beginnings of their relationship as Robert gently steps into a fatherly role, and Neil begins to sense the stability, discipline, and quiet kindness of his new life.
